5 ESSENTIALS FOR EVERY RUNNER
Whether you’re beginning your running journey, or you run once a month, or you’re a marathon expert, here are 5 items that every runner needs:
- A Life-Changing Pair of Socks
You don’t want to keep tugging your socks up or have your feet drenched in sweat. It’s important that your pair is comfortable, durable, non-slip, and sweat-wicking. Perhaps you need light compression or arch support. Pick socks that allow you to run farther without foot pain. So many options have a variety of fun colors and patterns for every run and mood! Let’s be real, some days, you need those super vibrant socks to get you excited and motivated to exercise. - Reliable Sunglasses
You have sweat (and maybe tears) in your eyes, but you don’t want sun in them. Stick with brands that specialize in running sunnies as that ensures that they are non-slip even on the sweatiest of runs. Make sure they don’t bounce either. There are several colors, shapes, and styles that offer a great bang for your buck. - A Running Belt for Phones, Snacks, and Your Will to Keep Running
Running belts and bands are raved about for good reason. The best running belts should have a comfortable and non-bouncing fit, breathable materials like mesh, and ample room for goodies. Maybe you would prefer a vest or sports bra with large storage compartments for longer runs. Or even a large magnetic pocket that connects to your shorts/pants. Those exist too! - Handy Dandy Training Log
You can make it as simple as a note or calendar in your phone. Or you can get a journal dedicated to your running progress. Either way, it’s important to track all of your hard work such as distance, time, pace, breathing rate, heart rate, elevation, how you felt, and anything else you want to include. What’s great about logs is that they’re completely customizable. - Accountability Apps
With so many apps aimed at runners, it’s hard to find ones that are best for tracking your progress and keeping yourself accountable. Look for ones that allow you to share your activity, route, pictures, and anything else you want with your athletic community. You can learn new routes and tips, get detailed progress reports, and even join challenges.
